MAHOGANY BUILDERS: GIVING THAT LASTS BEYOND THE HOLIDAYS

CHICAGO, IL (January 2009) – There is nothing like the gift of giving especially during the holidays and these hard economic times. Matt Lederer, contractor and founder of Mahogany Builders, a custom renovation company based in Chicago’s historic Wrigleyville neighborhood, leads by example. An avid community volunteer and fundraiser, Lederer also donates his company’s services to local charities and schools.

Throughout 2010, Mahogany Builders will donate $250 gift certificates for remodeling and handyman services to auctions, raffles and fundraisers. Organizations benefiting include The Junior League of Chicago, Park West Cooperative School, LEEP Forward Therapeutic School and many more. Growing up, Lederer recalls how his parents were active in Make-A-Wish, women’s shelters, court advocacy, mentoring, coaching and many other volunteer programs. “They raised 2 children, ran a successful company and yet always found time to give back,” says Lederer. With 2 small children of his own and a successful business, Matt is committed to giving back while setting an example for his kids and business colleagues. “Volunteering really puts the world in perspective. The experience has made me a better business man and a better father.” Lederer volunteers with Heartlight, the bereavement program at Children’s Memorial Hospital and is about to receive his 10-year pin. He has also spent extensive time as a big brother. In addition to giving his time, Lederer founded “Building Hope,” a program in which Mahogany Builders donates a portion of a project’s final invoice to Heartlight.

In addition to charity donations, Mahogany Builders is making it easy for customers to give back to their loved ones. In the midst of a tough economy, what better gift to give a spouse, parent, friend or sibling than money towards remodeling their home? Everyone wants to maintain and revamp his or her homes for the holidays and start fresh in the New Year.
